Smart Home & KNX Automation

One system for lighting, heating, blinds and security — built on KNX, the open standard that doesn’t lock you into a single app or brand.

KNX is the industry standard for whole-home automation because it’s wired, not wireless, and it isn’t tied to one manufacturer’s ecosystem. We design and install KNX systems that bring lighting, heating, blinds, security and audio under one set of switches and one app, with the wiring done properly during first fix so it’s invisible once the walls are closed.

What’s included in a KNX smart home installation

  • System design — wiring plan drawn up before first fix, covering every room you actually use.
  • Lighting and heating control — scenes, schedules and room-by-room control from switches or app.
  • Blinds and shading — automated or manual control, integrated with the same system.
  • Integration with security and CCTV — one app instead of five.
  • Programming and handover — a full walkthrough so you actually know how to use it.

Because KNX is an open standard, you’re not stuck if a manufacturer discontinues a product or changes its app — any KNX-certified equipment from any brand keeps working with what’s already installed. It also holds its value: a wired KNX system is something buyers notice, unlike a box of wireless smart plugs that stop working the moment the Wi-Fi drops.

KNX is worth planning before first fix, not bolting on after. If you’re renovating or building new, get in touch early through our contact page so we can design it in from the start.

KNX Smart Home Automation in Tenerife

KNX is the only open, manufacturer-independent smart home standard endorsed by ISO, CENELEC, and over 500 manufacturers worldwide. We are KNX-certified installers, which means we have passed the manufacturer-led training programme and use ETS (Engineering Tool Software) to programme every installation — the same software used by KNX partners globally. There are no proprietary apps to go out of support and no cloud dependency: the system runs locally on a DIN-rail bus controller and keeps working even without an internet connection.

A typical KNX project starts with bus cable laid alongside the electrical first fix. Switching actuators, dimmer modules, blind controllers, and HVAC interfaces connect to the bus and are then programmed to behave exactly as the client specifies — from a single scene button that dims the lights, closes the blinds, and sets the thermostat, to a whole-house presence simulation for security. We can integrate KNX with CCTV, video intercom, alarm systems, and energy monitoring on the same bus.

KNX is particularly well suited to Tenerife’s climate — automated solar shading cuts cooling loads significantly, and presence detection combined with HVAC scheduling can reduce energy use by 30–40% compared with manual systems. We handle the full project: design, bus cable installation, actuator fitting, ETS programming, and client handover with written documentation.
